Ask, Seek, Knock, what does that mean?
7 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. (Matthew 7:7-8).
In General, asking is verbal; Christians are to use their mouths and petition God for their needs and desires. Seeking is mind oriented and it is more than asking; Knocking involves physical movement, Christians should take action. To complete your asking you should seek and to complete your seeking you should knock. In the original language the verbs are in present tense and it would read, “Keep on asking and it will be given to you; keep on seeking and you will find; keep on knocking and it will be opened to you” (v. 7).
If you ask, and then you receive, why would you ever need to seek or knock?
