Why didn’t Jesus Taught them before?
So why didn’t Jesus teach them how to pray before? He taught them about many things; about the Kingdom of God, about the end times about His resurrection, so why didn’t He teach them how to pray?
I have to stress the point that the subject of prayer was raised by one of the disciples, rather than by Jesus. Didn’t Jesus know how important prayer is? He knew that is was vital, but as intensely as our Lord understood prayer and practiced it personally, He did not initiate the subject here. Why?
I believe for two reasons: it was because our Lord wanted the disciples to realize on their own the importance prayer. Secondly, He was ready and willing to teach them to pray, but only when His disciples were fervent and keen to learn. That is when the Lord answered their smartest request. See you have to realize how important prayer is.
